Dual Citizen - The Origin Story

Dual Citizen - The Origin Story

I’ve lived in seven different states. That number does more to explain who I am than any single place ever could.

Growing up, I was always packing, always unpacking, always trying to make somewhere new feel like mine before I’d even unpacked the last box. What I learned early, without knowing I was learning it, is that organization was never really about aesthetics. It was about peace. It was the feeling of walking into a room and finally being able to exhale, instead of feeling like a guest in your own life. I got good at building that exhale for myself, young. Good enough that mothers started paying teenage me to come clean their sons’ rooms, because they’d stopped believing it was possible.

Dual Citizen was born from that same instinct, just grown up. A love for organization, for elevated style, and for helping women feel a little more at ease in their own lives. That’s genuinely the whole point of this.

Somewhere along the way, apparel became the other half of it. I studied apparel design and production, interned for Zac Posen, Randi Rahm, and Scott Barber, worked a boutique job all through college, designed for Gigi Pip and Pact. I’ve always believed clothing is confidence you can actually touch. I don’t have a good day if what I’m wearing doesn’t feel like me, and I’ve stopped apologizing for how much that matters to me. It’s the same instinct as the closet thing, honestly. Order outside, order in.

Covid laid me off from design and pushed me into executive administration and event management instead, and those four years taught me something I didn’t see coming: I watched brilliant, wonderful women slowly lose the thread of who they are, because corporate life takes every last bit of energy they have to give to anything else. The individuality goes first. Then the spark. I’ve watched it happen to people I love and admire, and it broke something open in me. I never stopped believing there was a way back to themselves.

This past year, apparel brands have started reaching out. Wanting the eye, the systems thinking, the whole heart I bring to this work. Some weren’t quite ready yet. Some couldn’t afford me yet. And honestly, I’ve come to love that, because it told me something worth knowing: what I do is worth growing into, so why not launch something on my own?

How Dual Citizen came to be. I’m a dual citizen myself, dad from the US and mum from the UK. My mum spent my whole life showing me that you can wear every hat handed to you and still find a way to get it all done, gracefully. Dual Citizen is her too, a little. Maybe a lot.

So here’s what I actually do. Closet edits, styling sessions, wardrobe resets, for Dallas clients in person and everyone else over video. It always starts with a real conversation, not a shopping trip. What’s really in your closet. What you keep reaching past without knowing why. What your life looks like now versus what your clothes are still dressed for.

Curated support for every version of you. If that’s you, or someone you love complains about their closet weekly, I’d love to help.
